A TEENAGE yob has been banned from part of Burnley following a six-month reign of terror.

Police said that since February Harry Macintosh had persistently caused a nuisance in the Trinity area by riding motorbikes, throwing stones, drinking alcohol and shouting abuse.

The 15-year-old, of St Matthew Street, was slapped with the Anti-Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) at Reedley Magistrates’ Court after Burnley Council brought the civil proceedings.

Jonathan Jackson, the council’s solicitor, said the teen’s offences had included throwing stones at people and derelict houses.

Issuing the two-year ASBO, chairman of the bench Judith Mason said: “People should be able to go to the shops without being terrorised and having stones thrown at their windows.

“Why you are doing this in your own neighbourhood is beyond me. It is just not fair to hurt these people like you have been doing.”

The ASBO means Macintosh must not enter Raglan Road, Grange Street, Pritchard Street, Herbert Street or Albion Street.

He must not ride or be carried on a motorbike in a road without prior consent by someone with authority and he must not associate with Jake Biriny, 15.

He must not be in possession of or under the influence of alcohol in a public place, act in an anti-social manner or throw an object at a person, house or other property.

Community beat manager PC John Fisher said: “This teenager committed repeated anti-social behaviour, having an adverse impact on residents’ quality of life.

“We have acted on the concerns raised by the community and I hope this order will go some way in reassuring the local community that action has been taken.”

The Bench were handed Macintosh’s most recent school report, which showed top marks in a range of subjects.

Mrs Mason said: “I cannot believe it is the same boy.

“It is a really positive report and you are doing quite well in nearly all the subjects.

“There is good inside you and there is a whole world out there for you to get involved with.”
