HYNDBURN Council is giving away 10 tonnes of compost today for free.
The Big Heap is a ‘thank you’ to residents who regularly compost their garden waste.
People can bring a maximum of three bags to be filled at Wilson’s playing fields car park, Clayton-le-Moors, between 10am and 2pm.
Coun Munsif Dad said: “Last year our residents composted more than 2,300 tonnes, that’s equivalent to 9.5% of our total household waste.
"The Big Heap giveaway is a fabulous chance to reward them for their efforts.”
