AN Accrington charity shop is appealing for help as the recession empties their stockroom.
Age UK staff in Accrington’s Blackburn Road say the store is struggling to keep up with customers demands donations of clothes, cookware and books have plummeted.
Meanwhile the demand for cheap goods has seen sales at the shop soar.
Store manager Tasneem Khamker said: “Our store room is usually piled high, but now it’s almost empty.
"Although it is good to sell what what we have, we cannot cope with the increasing demand.
"If nothing else comes in, we cannot sell fresh air.”
The staff at Age UK Accrington usually put up to 300 items on display each day but this has fallen to fewer than 150 items.
