RESIDENTS living near a Blackburn pub have hit out at plans for an early-hours live music licence.

Managers at The Lord Raglan Hotel, in Kings Road, have applied for a licence for live music until midnight Monday to Thursday, and and until 2am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

The license application also states that there could be ‘similar’ activities such as dancing and recorded music.

The pub already runs karaoke evenings.

Meadowhead Coun Brian Gordon said he was compiling an offical objection to present to Blackburn with Darwen Council.

He said: “People living in this area are against it because of the noise and disruption, and it’s not just limited to those in Kings Road.

“We have enough problems already of drunken people walking along the road and causing damage to cars.

“The likelihood is that if the licence is until 2am, then people will be leaving the pub at 2.30am or 3am, and that is very late, especially on Sundays when people have to get up on Monday morning for work.

“Lots of people are sending me letters of objection, which I will forward onto the council.”

The application also asks for permission for live music until 2am on Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, December 27 and 28 and New Year’s Eve.

The Lancashire Telegraph approached the Lord Raglan for a comment but management declined.

A decision is expected to be made by Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council licensing officials on August 22.
