A MOTHER has been charged with neglect after her daughter suffered ‘quite horrific burns’.
The two-year-old girl was taken to Darwen Police Station by her step-grandfather on May 5 where he reported concerns to officers, according to police.
Police found the girl, now aged three, had three separate injuries to her arm and hands.
Officers said second degree burn to the girl’s right forearm consisted of three separate lesions including two long lines.
There were two other burns to the girl’s left hand.
The mother’s partner, who is 36, was initially arrested in connection with the investigation, but was released without charge.
The couple are still together.
The children were not on the ‘at risk’ register.
