POLICE in Burnley are appealing for information after three arson attacks across the town last weekend.

On Sunday, the fire service and the police were called to three separate arsons.

The first was at just before 2am in Wilton Street when a wheelie bin and loose rubbish in the rear yard of a house were set on fire.

The second report came in at around 2.45am at a property on Queen Victoria Road where a fire had been started in an outbuilding of an empty property.

20 minutes later a third report was received of a further fire outside another empty property on Williams Road.

A 33-year-old man from Burnley has been arrested in connection with the investigation but has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

A police spokesperson said: "We would appeal to anyone who may have been in the areas above in the early hours of Sunday morning who may have seen any suspicious activity to come forward and contact us.

"I would also appeal to anyone who may have any other information that may assist us in our enquiries to contact us."
