CANCER battler Madison Allan is undergoing tests to find the cause of severe pains in her stomach.
The six-year-old, who has a ‘spaghetti-like’ tumour wrapped around her internal organs, had an endoscopy at the Christie Hospital in Manchester yesterday, having been feeling unwell for weeks.
The proceedure comes as the Lower Darwen Primary School pupil prepares for a new type of radiation treatment.
Her grandmother Alison Foster, of Lord’s Crescent, Lower Darwen, said: “We’re waiting to see what the camera tells us. She’s been complaing of the pain for about nine weeks.
“Then next week, or the week after, she will start on a new type of treatment where radiation is injected straight into her tumour.
“She will be radioactive for a week and will have to be kept in isolation.”
Eight weeks later, Madison will fly to Germany for scans to see whether the tumour has shrunk. The latest scans showed little change, and Madison’s family are continuing vital fundraising efforts to pay for the trial treatment which is not available in the UK.
So far £125,000 has been raised, but double is likely to be needed.
A fundraising birthday quiz has been organised for September 17 at DW Sports Soccer Dome in Guide, between 7.30pm and midnight.
There will also be an auction, a raffle, and children’s activities.
