A MEMBER of an infamous ASBO gang has been locked up for robbing a teenager at knifepoint.

Adam Caddens, 17, of Highfield Road, is the leader of the Mill Hill Boyz, who were banned from the area in March 2010.

But at 10pm on March 4, this year, he was with two other youths who threatened, followed and confronted a group of friends walking home along a canal towpath in Blackburn.

Caddens and his crew asked for the time and then threw a mobile phone from one of the victim's group into the canal.

But when 16-year-old Adam Kennedy spoke out, he was told: “Give us your phone or we will stab you” by Caddens.

Preston Crown Court heard the victim was held and punched several times, but 'seized momentum' and managed to grab the blade and turn it on to Caddens', cutting his hand.

Police were called to investigate and Caddens was arrested the following week.

Kevin Donnelly, for Caddens, admitted his 'immature' client's criminal record of 15 court appearances for 28 convictions was 'appalling and disturbing for a young man of that age' and that he had failed to comply with court orders designed to keep him out of jail.”

Caddens was given a two years detention order.

The Mill Hill Boyz were said by police to have been behind a reign of terror in the area before they were given ASBOs.

Caddens, Sheldon Murchie, and Jack Mason, were responsible for 540 incidents of anti-social behaviour in a year and were banned from large parts of Mill Hill.
