CROWN Paints is calling on businesses, voluntary organisations, schools and colleges to put themselves in the running for free paint.

The Darwen company wants applications for donations to help spruce up interiors.

Spokesman Vernon Kinrade said: “It is amazing how much difference a fresh coat of paint can make to a room or building.

"But we know many organisations, from small businesses to charities and other not-for-profit groups, sometimes struggle with costs and this is our way of helping out.”

Winners from across the UK will be chosen later this year.

Applications must be in by August 19.
