AN East Lancashire based training provider has been awarded Beacon status which recognises its outstanding teaching and learning.

Blackburn and Nelson based Training 2000 is now the ninth work-based learning provider in the North West to gain the prestigious title.

Beacon status is awarded to learning organisations that promote and pursue excellence, celebrating outstanding delivery.

Staff from the training provider received the award from the national Learning and Skills Improvement Service, the body responsible for learning and skills improvement in the wider further education sector, in Birmingham.

Training 2000’s chief executive, Steve Gray, said: “I cannot describe how delighted we are to have received Beacon status. This is the ultimate recognition that Training 2000 could have ever achieved and I am so proud to be heading back to Lancashire with this award.

“This is a testament to our commitment to skills improvement, not just of the learners we work with, but also to those in our own workforce and I’d like to thank them all for doing such a sterling job.”
