HIGHWAYS chiefs at Lancashire County Council are to meet with councillors in Hapton to discuss speed limits on a main road through the village.

Plans to reduce the limit on part of the A679 Burnley Road from 60mph to 50mph have been given the green light by county bosses.

But they will meet Hapton Parish Council to further discuss speed limits along a larger stretch of the road, which currently fluctuate from 30mph to 60mph in a short distance.

Two other roads in Burnley are set to see speed limits reduced after a review.

The A646 Rossendale Road and Glenview Road and the A671 Centenary Way will be reduced to 30mph from 40mph.
