A MARATHON man who conquered a dozen 26-milers in 12 days is already on the lookout for his next epic fundraiser.

Pub landlord Brian Parker, 52, was footsore but ecstatic after completing his twelfth marathon from Preston to Burnley.

His amazing feat saw him run for the equivilent of more than three days in less than a fortnight.

And just minutes after finishing the huge challenge, in aid of Pendleside Hospice, his thoughts were turning to another charity expedition.

He said: “Later this year I want to canoe across the English Channel and then water-ski back again. But I'm going to take a few months off first.”

Brian, who runs The Commercial and Craven Heifer, paid tribute to his support crew, who helped him through an eleventh-hour headache.

He ended his penultimate marathon in Buxton, where he stopped overnight before heading back to the red rose county.

But the hour-and-a-half car journey from Derbyshire to Preston resulted in cramp setting in and Brian had to beat the pain barrier before crossing the finishing line outside the Town Hall in Burnley just before 3pm on Saturday.

“All of the texts and e-mails I have received while I've been doing this have really helped me through some of the bad times,” said Brian, who was greeted by family and friends on the town hall steps.

The publican has pledged to collect £50,000 for the Reedley hospice and his latest effort will add around £6,000 or £7,000 to the target, which is almost now within reach.

Hospice fundraiser Carl Barnacle said: “When he came to us with this we just thought he was crazy. It was a massive challenge.”
