A HOMEOWNER is going to extreme lengths to try and sell his home after finding his dream property in Rawtenstall.

Lee Cunningham, 41, of Blackburn Road, Rising Bridge, has blacked out his window with fluorescent posters, done a leaflet drop, launched his own website, is offering a reward of £500 to anyone who refers a viewer who goes on to buy his property, as well as running a monthly prize draw for all serious viewers who visit his home.

Lee, who works at Bury Council as a benefit assessor, said: "I decided if I wanted to sell my home then I would have to do something to make it stand out in the current market.

“Properties just aren't selling as the market is really slow and there are just not enough people able to get a mortgages.

"I am certain as soon as someone looks round my house they will snap it up! It's in a lovely area and decorated really nice.

"At rush hour Blackburn Road is one of the main thoroughfares for Haslingden and Accrington so I'm hoping a potential buyer will see my posters and be interested in looking round."

Lee's home has been up for sale for £109,950 for eight weeks and so far not one potential buyer has shown interest and that is why he decided to create his own website.

Lee said: "I know they say you shouldn't go around another house until you are in a definite position to move but I got so swept away with idea of moving. I have found the perfect house in Rawtenstall that I can just imagine myself in. The owner of that house is looking to complete a sale by the end of June so I don't have much time."

A spokeswoman for his estate agents Weale & Hitchen said: "He is trying everthing he can and we hope he does sell it as it is a bonny little house.

"The problem is it’s a luxury purchase. There are a lot of cheaper houses around. It would make an ideal small family home but there are no buyers around at the moment because of a lack of mortgages out there. It just shows how hard the market is at the moment, normally it would have flown out.

"It is in a very good spot if people want to go to Blackburn, Manchester or Accrington. We have had some interest but nobody through the door."
