A World War Two volunteer has finally been honoured for the work she carried out on the Enigma decoder project.
Sigrid Green, 90, of Ely Close, Darwen, worked for three years at Bletchley Park, near Milton Keynes, listening in to German Morse code messages.
Local historian Jayne Waring, of Preston Street, Darwen, nominated Miss Green for a Bletchley Park Badge, which is available to all living veterans, and this week the honour was bestowed, with a letter from the Prime Minister.
Miss Green said: “I’m very pleased that, more than 60 years on, I have received this badge.
“But the letter from David Cameron means more to me, because it’s finally a thank you from the Government for all the nights I spent listening.”
