Long-serving Todmorden councillor retires
ONE of the longest-serving councillors in Todmorden has announced she has decided to retire after her shock defeat in last week’s elections.
Olwen Jennings has served as mayor of both Todmorden and Calderdale during a 25-year career, which also saw her serve as a town councillor for 12 years.
She was elected as a borough councillor 13 years ago.
She said: “I will be 71 next year and I can’t go on for ever.
"I will miss it because I have enjoyed helping the people of Todmorden.”
