THERE were ‘no significant arrests’ between fans at the Blackburn Rovers clash against Premier League champions Manchester United.
Lancashire Constabulary increased police presence before, after and during Saturday’s match and reported no major problems.
There was an increased number of Manchester United fans in the town on Saturday after Blackburn Rovers club bosses discovered some of their fans had sold their season tickets on to rival supporters.
Club officials were ‘shocked and disturbed’ that fans were cashing in despite Rovers still fighting to remain in the Premier League.
A small number of United fans were removed from the stadium but no trouble flared.
Police maintained a high-police presence in the town as the fans then spilled into the local pubs to watch Manchester City's victory against Stoke in the FA Cup final.
Inspector Gary Crowe, from Lancashire Police, said: “The football went smoothly.
There were plenty of Manchester United fans in the area and once the game had finished the fans came out of the ground and watched the FA Cup final in pubs.
"There were no significant arrests or major problems.”
