THE mum of a young Blackburn Rovers fan who was told he could meet his heroes has blasted club owners after they failed to deliver on their promise.
Nine-year-old Tyler Cole was spotted by boss Anuradha Desai waiting in the cold outside Ewood Park for an autograph following the Tottenham game in February.
Afterwards, Venkatesh Rao, Mrs Desai’s brother, contacted the Lancashire Telegraph to get in touch with Tyler before calling the youngster and promising a meeting with the players next time he is in the country.
But three months later, Tyler, of Blossom Avenue, Oswaldtwistle, is still waiting for a call.
Mum Nicola Shulman, 30, said: “Tyler is devastated. He keeps saying that he has been conned.
“He spoke to them for ages on the phone and promised that next time they were back in the country he could go and meet the players.
“Everybody knew and has been asking about it. The poor lad comes home every day and asks, ‘Have Venky’s rung, mum?’.”
Miss Shulman said that Tyler was so upset he may even cancel his season ticket for next season.
The Tottenham match was the Venky’s owners’ first trip to a game at Ewood Park since last year’s takeover – but they have not been back since.
Venky’s was unavailable for comment.
