A TOURING Living Room will be hitting Darwen’s streets this month to ask people what they want and need in their community.

Darwen Aldridge Community Academy (DACA) has received £150,000 Big Lottery funding to turn the ideas into reality as part of the Stand Out in Darwen campaign.

The Touring Living Room will also encourage people to nominate themselves as community pioneers who can receive small pots of funding for any training and support needed to fulfil their ideas.

Co-ordinator Jude Smith said: “We would urge anyone that has got an idea, whether it to be to turn the piece of land at the end of their street into allotments, start a coffee morning in the town or hold an event at a school, to go in to the pods and tell us all about your idea.”

DACA will be providing training days and workshops as well as searching for sponsorship from local businesses to ensure projects can keep running.
