IT was a case of the Winner Takes It All for a Blackburn couple when they got married on the set of hit musical Mamma Mia.

Gemma Fallon, 28, took the centre stage of the Palace Theatre in Manchester where she wed Steven Humphreys, 23 – and became the first couple ever to marry at the venue.

They had won Real Radio’s Bride on the Run Competition where the prize was to marry on the Mamma Mia set.

Abba fan Gemma compromised on her dream of getting married on the Greek island where the blockbuster movie Mamma Mia was filmed and entered the contest.

Her family and friends sat in the audience as the backdrop of the Palace Theatre’s production provided the Greek island’s scenery to her dream wedding.

The couple married at 1pm after the Palace Theatre was granted a special licence to hold the ceremony.

Gemma, a manageress of Split ’n’ Polish beauticians, in Cherry Tree, and binman Steven then had their wedding reception at Bredbury Hall Hotel, Stockport, for 50 guests with food, music, and an overnight stay; and a honeymoon in Greece where the Abba-inspired film was made.

Gemma and Steven met three years ago at a party and he proposed 18 months later.

She won the competition after she travelled the furthest distance in the UK with £10 wearing a wedding dress.

She made it to Eastbourne within 24 hours.

Gemma said: “It’s a bit surreal. It all happened so quickly.

"I am so grateful, I don’t win anything. It’s like winning the lottery.”
