POLICE are hunting two teenage criminals who smashed up 15 cars in a 90-minute £4,000 wrecking spree.

The boys – aged between 13 and 15 - targeted the staff car park at Royal Blackburn Hospital before moving on to Shadsworth Leisure Centre and the surrounding estate.

One victim, a staff nurse, said she was ‘angry and very upset’ to finish a 12-hour night shift and discover her wing mirror had been ripped off her 2004 Peugeot 206.

Debra Stansfield, 47, from Waterfoot, said: “I can’t afford to claim on my insurance. It’s a massive inconvenience.

Colleague Annette Osewski, 47, from Ightenhill, Burnley, faces a £400 bill for both wing mirrors on her 2008 Mazda MX3.

She said: “They are young kids, but old enough to realise that it was a staff car park and we are here working hard to help sick people. It could be their family in here.

Neighbourhood police sergeant Mark Cruise has vowed to catch the two ‘tremendously inconsiderate’ youths.

The criminal damage spree started just after 8pm on Thursday, April 28. Two suspects were seen on hospital CCTV and police said they had kicked and pulled off wing mirrors from employees.

The boys then continued their rampage along Old Bank lane to the Shadsworth Leisure Centre.

There, they targeted a Vauxhall Corsa, Nissan Micra, Vauxhall Astra, Smart Car, a Seat and a Mercedes.

Minutes later a family living in Shetland Close had their BMW targeted twice.

Officers also want to hear from people who have suffered damaged cars in Ennerdale Avenue and Patterdale Avenue.

Sgt Cruise said: “We are examining CCTV to see the route they took and we believe they are from the Shadsworth, Knuzden or Whitebirk area of south east Blackburn.

“We are looking for witnesses or for the perpetrators themselves to come forward because we won’t stop we find who is behind this series of absolutely mindless crimes.

“For the victims, many of whom are hard working people, it is a huge inconvenience which they do not deserve.

“Most will have to pay out hundreds of pounds to fix the damage.”

The boys are describe as white, aged 13-15. One was wearing a red jacket, dark pants and white trainers. The other was wearing a black jacket with white stripes.
