A PETITION in support of beleagured bed firm Silentnight has been delivered to Pendle Council’s chief officer.
Members of Barnoldswick Labour Party handed the petition to Stephen Barnes, the council’s chief executive, yesterday.
Silentnight last week proposed a company voluntary arrangement (CVA) to creditors and members of a pension fund.
It is to address a £100million pension black hole and banking problems.
The petition calls on the council to press Government ministers to support the company through its present difficulties.
It has been signed by hundreds of Barnoldswick and other Pendle residents, of all political affiliations.
Ian Tweedie, Labour candidate in Coates ward, said: “This is a major issue for Pendle.”
