A BLACKBURN primary school has been rated as ‘good’ by Ofsted.

Inspectors praised the head Michael Duxbury’s ‘great determination’ in leading St Peter’s RC Primary School, which has above national average exam results.

Mr Duxbury has made and dealt with significant changes including moving to a new building in 2008 and applying a new senior management structure.

The report stated that one parent commented that the school was a ‘fantastic place’ and that they were ‘very happy with the education and care’ which it said was typical of the views expressed.

Mr Duxbury praised pupils, staff, governors and parents.

He said: “The school’s ‘good’ rating is testament to the hard work of everyone involved at St Peter’s.

Our results in exams such as maths continue to improve and overall achievements are above the national average.

“Our students are rightly very proud of their school.”
