TWO brothers who subjected a father-of-two to a frightening street confrontation and then attacked him are both behind bars.
Nazam Hussain, 28, Mozam Hussain, 24, both had criminal records, but had deceived two local councillors into writing references to the court, believing they were of good character, Burnley Crown Court was told.
The brothers confronted a neighbour in the street, Nazam Hussain armed with a metal steering lock, and then pursued him to outside his home, where both defendants assaulted him.
The brothers, of Monk Street, Accrington, who run a family kebab shop, have never been to prison before.
Nazam Hussain has 27 previous convictions, including six for disqualified driving. Mozam Hussain had a record of 14 convictions.
The pair admitted affray and assault causing actual bodily harm, last June 12.
Nazam, who also pleaded guilty to driving while banned, was sent to prison for 10 months and ordered off the road for a year.
Mozam Hussain was locked up for seven months.
