A TEENAGER who attacked a man and stole his phone after a pub confrontation has been fined.
Michael Bannister, 19, had earlier swung a punch at Daniel Clark and pushed him out of the Burnley pub. Mr Clark was outside when a taxi carrying Bannister stopped nearby, the defendant got out, ran over to him and hit him once in the face, knocking him to the ground, Burnley Crown Court was told.
The victim, who was tended by two passers-by who called an ambulance, suffered a fractured cheekbone, suspected broken nose, a gash to the back of his head, a bruised forehead and cuts and bruises to his elbow.
He was left with a “slightly crooked nose” and the attack had dented his self confidence, the court was told.
Bannister, of Branch Road, Burnley, had earlier admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm and theft in the incident outside Bootleggers in Boot Way.
He was given 26 weeks in custody, suspended for two years, with supervision and the controlling anger and learning to manage it programme.
He must pay £1,500 compensation.
