A WOMAN who threw a broken wine glass at an actress from Blackburn leaving her blind in one eye has been jailed.

Sarah Harding, 21, of Horwich near Bolton, admitted grievous bodily harm but was cleared of wounding with intent after a trial at Manchester Crown Court last month.

Yesterday, she was sentenced to two years and three months in prison.

Victim Charlotte Davies, 25 at the time, was out with friends at The Living Room in Manchester on March 27 last year when the attack happened.

Harding dropped a wine glass on the floor, picked up the broken bowl of the glass, and launched it towards Miss Davies, of Feniscowles.

The object smashed into Miss Davies' eye and she was taken to hospital for treatment but has permanently lost vision in her left eye.

Detective Constable Emma Hulston said: “A group of women were having an enjoyable evening out when, for whatever reason, Sarah Harding flew into a rage.

“The victim bore the brunt of this aggression and has suffered permanent, life changing injuries as a result.

“Alcohol was certainly a factor in this case and it is sad that what should have been a pleasant time for all involved has resulted in one woman being blinded in one eye and another going to prison.”
