AGEING gas mains on the edge of Todmorden will be replaced as part of a £110,000 operation, which starts this week.
An 800-metre stretch of Rochdale Road will be upgraded as part of the Northern Gas Networks scheme, which should be completed by May.
Rusting metal mains will be removed and replaced by more durable plastic piping by engineers from Enterprise.
Side roads, including Copperas House Terrace, Gauxholme Stones, Mona’s Terrace, Stones Terrace, Pellon Street, and Alma Road, are also included.
Temporary traffic lights may be introduced during part of the works, depending on how the job progresses.
Operations manager Tony Thompson said: “This project has been planned very carefully and it is our priority to get in, and out, as quickly and safely as possible to allow our customers to start benefitting from the upgrades.”
