A GIFTED young composer from Barnoldswick will star in a reality TV show alongside drum and bass legend Goldie this weekend.

Vahan Salorian is one of 12 young musicians set to to appear in ‘Goldie’s Band: By Royal Appointment’, which starts on BBC Two tomorrow at 9pm.

The three-part programme follows Goldie on a mission to discover young people with a talent and passion for music, culminating with a concert in front of Prince Harry at Buckingham Palace.

All those taking part have experienced hardship or challenges in their lives.

Vahan, whose mum Mandy raised three children on her own, said his family could not afford the instruments and lessons he needed to pursue his passion for classical musical.

The 18-year-old, who plays trombone in Barnoldswick Brass Band,was filmed for the documentary last year.

He attended a three-day residential course where he was mentored by singer and presenter Cerys Matthews, and Ms Dynamite.
