LANCASHIRE Fire and Rescue Service received more than 30 calls about a large grass fire in Rossendale last night.
The fire on Tor Hill, Helmshore, could be seen across East Lancashire.
Because of issues of access and lighting, it was not safe for firefighters to deal with the incident.
There was no danger to buildings or people.
The last report was at 2am.
Crews went up the hill this morning to knock out the embers with beaters.
