FOUR middle-aged men were assaulted in a ‘vicious’ attack by a gang of youths.

The group of men, all said to be in their 40s, were walking towards the Oasis takeaway in Darwen Street, Blackburn, after attending a school reunion party.

While they were standing outside the takeaway at around 3.15am four Asian men, all believed to be in their mid-20s, pulled up in two separate cars before getting out and attacking the group.

One man was knocked unconscious and another suffered a broken nose and a cut to his eye that required stitching. The youths then drove away.

Their cars were said to be silver and black but the victims could not recall the make or models.

The attack happened on November 28 but police have only just released details.

Sergeant Scott Boast, investigating officer, said: “This was a busy Saturday night and Sunday morning.

"I would appeal to anyone who thinks they may have any information to come forward and contact us.

“At this stage we are not treating this as a racist incident as there is no information to suggest that it was, however, it was certainly an unprovoked and vicious assault and we are extremely keen to trace the people involved.”

Anyone with information should contact Blackburn Police on 01254 51212 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
