BURNLEY are back in the Premier League - at least that's what some season ticket holders could be forgiven for thinking.

A batch of tickets have been printed with the Barclays Premier League logo from last season on, rather than The Championship logo, the league in which the Clarets will play this season.

The tickets also feature the logo of last year’s sponsor, Cooke, and kit manufacturer, Errea, instead of new sponsors, Fun88, and new kit makers, Puma.

Yesterday club bosses said the tickets had been printed in March, which is why they featured out-of-date logos.

Gordon Renton, of Melrose Avenue, Burnley, had five season tickets arrive for his family this week.

The 40-year-old, who has been a season ticket holder for six years, said: “It is misleading from the club.

“Surely they would have time to reprint them or could have waited a little longer. March was four months ago.

“It doesn’t give a great impression of the club. It is a laugh but it is frustrating as well.

“I am taking my five-year-old grandson for the first time this season and when he saw it he thought we would be playing Man Utd and Liverpool again.

“I can’t imagine the new sponsors are very happy, they are putting lots of money into the club but last year’s sponsors are still on the ticket.”

A spokesman for the club said: “Burnley Football Club started selling season tickets in March, when the ticket stock was from the FA Premier League.

“There would have been a furore if we had been issuing season ticket receipts with Championship logos on them in March and as it happens the new Championship sponsor was only signed up in June.

“The books and covers are all up to date for this campaign, but any supporters sufficiently affronted by having a Premier League logo on their season ticket insert can have it reprinted with a Championship logo at the ticket office should they wish.”
