A WHALLEY woman who suffered from bloating and digestive problems for two decades has had a miraculous recovery after following advice on a breakfast show.

Cathy Pickles, of Pendle Drive, had suffered from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) since her early 20s but had failed to find a medical solution to the constant discomfort.

The 40-year-old mum-of-two said: “I thought it was all down to driving or being sat down all the time at work.

"Then I thought it might be down to milk or coffee and despite being diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), none of the prescribed medicines really did anything.

“My main concern was the bloating. It was difficult to live with that, and the stomach cramps, and tiredness, to the extent that my clothing would become uncomfortable to wear, and become too tight.

"But while watching a health feature on the ITV breakfast show GMTV she was given a solution to her problems.

She added: “I saw a feature about how it could be my diet that was making me ill so I did one of those food intolerance test and I’m glad I did it.”

The consultant from the civil service immediately searched the web to find a company who conducted the tests and came across York Test.

A fortnight later the results came back from the laboratory and revealed Cathy was intolerant to yeast, wheat, gluten, cow’s milk, and eggs.

Now after cutting out alcohol, bread and chocolate she is finally feeling the benefit. She said: “It was great to get the results but you wonder what you are going to eat.

“It’s not plain sailing but I now know what I can eat without feeling the effects.”
