A DARWEN father hopes the town’s new MP will be able to help gain justice for the daughter he lost aged 12.

Paul Houston, of Argyle Street, is in talks with Jake Berry about meeting Whitehall civil servants for the first time to overturn a decision to allow Aso Mohammed Ibrahim stay in the UK.

Mr Houston has appealed for more than six years to deport Ibrahim back to Iraq after he left Amy to die under the wheels of his car in November 2003.

Ibrahim was driving while banned and without insurance or a licence.

The failed Iraqi asylum seeker was set to be deported, but in December won an appeal to stay as he has two children in Blackburn.

Mr Houston said: “In the five years Janet Anderson was looking into the case for me, I didn’t really get anywhere.

"Now hopefully we have a new man in the job who is enthusiastic about helping people.”

Mr Berry said: “It’s very early days, but I think we need to give this one last roll of the dice.”
