A CAR collided with a Thwaites delivery lorry and parked cars on Blackburn Road, Haslingden, this morning.

The incident happened at 6.55am and caused tailbacks in both directions during rush hour.

The fire service, police and ambulance were all called to the scene.

Rawtenstall watch manager Tony Ashworth said one female - the driver of the Vauxhall Corsa - was reported trapped, but had been released before they arrived.

She was being treated by paramedics in the back of an ambulance at the scene before being taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital.

Mr Ashworth said: “The car collided with two other cars just before colliding with the lorry.

"The airbags in the saloon went off. The lorry had some damage to the wheel.

"The two other vehicles had minor damage, but no-one else was hurt.

“We assessed the scene, checked all the cars, cleared the site and closed the road ready for the police to investigate.”
