IT looks like Steve Cotterill has pulled another coup in acquiring the services of striker Steve Jones for next season.

Following on from the captures of Andy Gray and Alan Mahon, Jones looks like another superb signing for us and I can't wait to see the three of them playing together.

I've seen Steve Jones play a number of times for Crewe and I've always been impressed by him.

He scored a lot of goals at Gresty Road and he comes to us at a good age.

And I reckon he can strike up a really good relationship with Andy Gray.

As a partnership they would have aerial power, pace and deadly finishing - and above all else goals.

When I played up front with Andy Cooke, we found a good understanding.

It's always difficult to get two strikers scoring regularly but I found that if I was getting 25 a season he would get 15.

And that kind of scoring rate is just what the Clarets are missing at the moment.

We've been two reliant on one man to get the goals. But with more of a cutting edge, which Jones will give us in both scoring and providing goals, I really think we can go places.

I'm just looking forward to seeing who else will be coming into Turf Moor next season.

Since the sale of Ade Akinbiyi, they have got three players in of real quality but we'll need more to be successful next season.

We need to strengthen all areas of the pitch and I'm sure the manager has a list of players he's looking at.

And as he's signed a long-term deal I'm sure he's had some assurances from the board.

One player who probably won't be at Turf Moor next season is Micah Hyde and I have to say that came as a bit of surprise.

You never know what's happened behind the scenes but maybe it's a case of the player wanting to return south.

You find that with players from down south that after a couple of years in the north they feel a need to return home.

As for the rest of the players the Clarets put on the transfer list, Gifton Noel-Williams, Danny Karbassiyoon and Duane Courtney, it's not a surprise to see them go.
