A DRUNKEN joiner threatened to petrol bomb a takeaway after being caught urinating in the doorway, a court heard.

Christopher John Hoyle, 21, of Boundary Street, Burnley, made the threats and offensive remarks to staff at the Eastern Delight in Harle Syke, on February 25.

Hoyle admitted using racially aggravated, threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour.

He was given a 90-day curfew between 9pm and 6am, and told to pay £65 costs.

Hoyle, father of a nine-month-old baby, was also told by magistrates that they would not tolerate racially aggravated disorder and they told Hoyle to spread this message to his friends.

Sophie Lorimer, prosecuting, said just after midnight Hoyle was standing at the shop door.

The court heard that the takeaway workers thought he might have been holding a dog.

But Mrs Lorimer said he was urinating and it was trickling into the doorway and onto the carpet.

Staff members remonstrated with Hoyle and he started to walk away, shouting: "You have been petrol bombed before and we will do it again."

Hoyle was said to have claimed he would go back with 12 lads and told the staff to go back to their own country.

Mrs Lorimer said Hoyle walked off, repeating the threats. After being arrested, he refused to answer questions.

Dylan Bradshaw, defending, told the court Hoyle would say his conduct had been completely out of order, Mr Bradshaw said Hoyle had been drunk, rude and arrogant.

He added that the threats were empty, but that the victims could not have known that and would have been left worried.

Mr Bradshaw said Hoyle could not behave properly in drink and had an element of immaturity aggravated by alcohol.
