DECIDING what to eat at V. Fresh was a real novelty for me. Since becoming vegetarian about 17 years ago I've got used to having a choice of (at the most) four dishes whenever I eat out.

They are usually veggie lasagne, veggie burger, a bland pasta dish and some bizarre concoction the non-veggie chef thinks veggies will like but in actual fact is revolting.

But as one fellow veggie diner at V. Fresh remarked It's weird but great having the choice of the whole menu!' The menu is aimed at light lunchtime dining with a delicious selection of hot and cold sandwiches, stuffed potato skins, jacket potatoes and wraps.

Even my non-veggie hubby was spoiled for choice.

I went for the potato skins with cheese and mushrooms, which came with a lovely crisp salad and dressing, while my other half opted for the Crazy' Bruschetta Special with aubergine, mushroom, sunflower seeds and sundried tomatoes.

Both were delicious and deceptively filling not to mention a bargain at £2.50 and £3 respectively.

Sadly we were too full to try any of the tempting deserts or pastries on offer but did make room for some homemade oat and raisin biscuits of which only a few crumbs were left!

The cafe itself, which raises money for East Lancashire Deaf Society, has been decorated excellently to create a relaxing setting, with nice touches such as fresh flowers and daily newspapers.

And if you don't have time to sit in and enjoy the service you can also get your food to go.

I'll definitely be back soon to work my way through the rest of the menu.
