POLICE have recovered thousands of pounds of drugs in Pendle following tip offs from the public.

Today officers thanked residents for the information which led to the seizure of about £3,000 of heroin and cannabis in Brierfield, and highlighted the incidents as a good example of how meetings between police and the public do work.

Police recovered heroin with a street value of £1,000 after it was stashed in a pepper pot down the side of a garage in Pickering Street in a drugs drop. They also found £2,000 of cannabis after carrying out a search warrant at a house in Belgrave Street. A man and a woman were arrested and released on police bail.

The incidents happened on Thursday afternoon and Friday night.

Following information about drug taking in the Clitheroe Road areas of the town police have also put on extra high visibility patrols.

On Saturday police held a Police and Community Together (PACT) meeting outside Brierfield Community Centre which about 50 people attended to share their concerns with officers.

Sergeant Graham Lister thanked residents for their help and encouraged them to continue assisting officers.

The next PACT meeting in the area will be held at 6.30pm at Reedley School on April 5.
