LANCASHIRE Fire and Rescue is planning to issue fixed penalty notices to anyone whose anti-social behaviour gets in the way of firefighters doing their jobs.
Twenty four community safety workers from the county-wide service now have the power to enforce notices for a variety of offences.
They are also able to request the names and addresses of people acting in an anti-social manner so the fine can be issued, in the same way dog wardens at councils can demand information from dog owners.
Failure to give information is itself a criminal offence.
Strict criteria have to be met before an organisation can be accredited to issue fixed penalty notices.
A fire service spokesman said: "This includes training, accountability, employee standards and approved complaints procedures."
