Residents are being urged not to fall victim to a conman who calls at homes asking to borrow money.
Police said they had received numerous reports of the conman targeting the homes of elderly people in Preston New Road, Blackburn.
Det Sgt Paul Ryan, of Blackburn CID, said the man pretended his car had broken down or that he had run out of petrol.
Det Sgt Ryan asked that any other residents who had been approached or conned by the man come forward by calling Blackburn police on 01254 51212.
