A DISPUTED scheme to change a Ribble Valley village's main car park into pay and display has been given the go ahead by council bosses.
Last year Sabden village car park was identified by the council as suitable for a charging scheme, and initially the local Parish Council agreed with the idea.
But after two public meetings vocal opposition from local residents meant the scheme was officially opposed by parish leaders.
But last night councillors on Ribble Valley Council's planning and development committee decided the plan would be in keeping with similar decisions for villages including Ribchester and Slaidburn.
