EAST Lancashire MP Lindsay Hoyle has called on Tony Blair to impose a windfall tax on gas company profits.
At Prime Minister's Questions, the Chorley Labour backbencher invited the premier to agree that it was "totally unacceptable" for British gas to impose a 22 per cent price rise on energy consumers while recording record profits of £1.5billion.
He asked Mr Blair whether it was now not the time to impose a windfall tax.
