BURNLEY'S Charter Walk shopping centre is among assets being considered for a possible sale by the Australian firm behind the new Wembley Stadium.
Multiplex which owns a stake in the shopping centre's parent company Stannifer revealed last week that losses on the Wembley project totalled £106m in the first half of its financial year and a spokesman for the firm admitted today Charter Walk could be sold.
The losses on Wembley contributed to an overall loss of £50m for Multiplex in the six months to 31 December.
A spokesman for Multiplex said: "We have not agreed any sale for anything and we are not in the process of doing so. It is not a case of raising funds because cash is short.
"We are looking at the portfolio to see if aspects of it are still viable and that could mean that we keep Charter Walk and it could mean that it is sold. The reality is that nothing has been decided and might not be for a while."
Charter Walk declined to comment.
The shopping centre, which has recently been refurbished, was sold to West Midlands-based Stannifer in 2001 by Great Portland Estates for an undisclosed sum.
Last week the Football Association said Wembley would not be ready for May's FA Cup Final and the game would be at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.
