A 33-YEAR-OLD man who broke into a Darwen opticians and stole a cabinet full of designer glasses has been jailed for 90 days.
Blackburn magistrates heard that, after his arrest, Peter Walsh had admitted trying to steal a car and now wanted all matters dealt with so that he could make a fresh start after serving a prison sentence.
Walsh, of Culver Road, Stockport, pleaded guilty to burglary at Optical Express, Market Street, and theft of a cabinet and glasses, together worth £1,690, and attempted theft of a car.
The court heard that Walsh had a heroin addiction and had come to Blackburn to make contact with the THOMAS Project, which had helped him in the past. He hoped to obtain assistance from them once he is released from prison.
