SCHOOLCHILDREN in Darwen are being encouraged to get involved in photography by the Darwen Civic Society.
There will be a special prize as part of the society's 18th annual photographic exhibition for youngsters who undertake a project entry through their school.
The subject for this year's competition will be Parks and Open Spaces, including Sport and Leisure in Darwen.
It will also be open to amateur photographers and there will be categories for over 16s, under 11s and 11 to 16 year-olds.
Winning exhibits and selected entries will be put on display in the Darwen Library exhibition room from Saturday, September 9 to Saturday, September 29.
All school entries must be taken to Darwen Library reception desk by July 10 and others by September 4.
Judging will take place on September 5 and the prizes will be presented at the library at 6pm on Wednesday, September 15.
