A man who awoke to find his bedroom on fire was "lucky to be alive" according to firefighters who spent over three hours tackling the blaze.
The bedroom, of a three-storey house in Bury Fold Lane in Darwen, was destroyed by fire at around 3am today.
A second bedroom was badly damaged and there was smoke damage to the rest of the house.
Watch manager Steve Harrison said: "The man who was asleep in the room is very lucky to be alive because when we arrived the entire bedroom was engulfed in flames."
