THE Muffin Men may nominally be a Frank Zappa 'tribute band', but they're so authentic they've had four members of Zappa's own bands in their line-up over the years. See them in Burnley on April 22.
As well as Zappa and Mothers Of Invention tunes, they also throw in some tracks by his kindred spirit Captain Beefheart for good measure.
Taking on rock, jazz, blues, avant-garde, classical, doo-wop and all the other styles Frank Zappa incorporated in his compositions, the "Muffins" take it all in their stride and play just how Frank would have liked it.
Formed in 1990 for a one-off gig to mark Zappa's 50th birthday, The Muffin Men proved to be a hit and have gone on to play hundreds of shows all over the world.
The Muffin Men play the Mechanics in Burnley on Saturday, April 22. Tickets are £10/9.
