BLACKBURN'S newest nightclub, Liquid and Envy, has opened in St Peter Street on in the former Jumpin Jaks venue following a £2million refit.

The new club will feature two separate club rooms, Liquid and Envy, along with a VIP lounge. Envy will also act as an over-25s only venue on certain nights of the week.

Richard Moore, general manager at Liquid and Envy, said: "The opening is a new era in clubbing for Blackburn and will inject something both fresh and exciting back into the area's nightlife, offering entertainment to clubbers of all ages."

Luminar Leisure closed Jumpin Jaks last November after months of competition with rival venue Heaven and Hell, stating a 'review of operations' was taking place.

Liquid and Envy has a capacity of 1,260 over the two storeys, and features a hi-tech system of 360 degree wall of projected images above the dance floor.

Local dancers will also be hired to perform at the club, and top DJs are expected to play.

The venue will open on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and the upstairs, Envy, will be for over 25s only on Fridays and Saturdays.

Rock FM will broadcast from the club every Friday, starting on December 9. The VIP lounge is expected to feature local celebrities, as well as clubbers celebrating a birthday or special occasions.
