A 20-YEAR-OLD man who got involved in a fight during a night out in Blackburn later vented his frustration on parked cars and battered one so much that it had to be written-off.

Blackburn magistrates heard that Michael Pice Maughan punched and kicked the car that became a write-off and caused £1,000 damage to another.

Maughan, 20, of Park Road, Accrington, pleaded guilty to three charges of criminal damage. He was remanded on bail for a pre-sentence report.

Joanne Close, prosecuting, said windows were smashed, door panels dented and wing mirrors kicked off a car belonging Tina Walsh.

The £325 worth of damage meant the car was written off and she had to pay £105 to tow it away. Damage totalling £120 was done to a car left on the Never Never Land car park and £1,000 worth to a car on the Waves car park.

Mrs Close said blood was found on each of the cars and Maughan was traced by a DNA sample.

She said Maughan initially denied the offences but finally accepted he had been involved in a fight and had then taken his frustration out on the cars by punching and kicking them.

Maughan said he had no idea why he had behaved as he did.

"I got in a fight and just took it out on the cars," he said.

"I'm very sorry for what I have done."
