Redundancies will not be made in a business deal that has seen five East Lancashire Kwik Save stores sold.
The stores have been sold by Somerfield to new Huddersfield-based firm Back To The Future (BTTF). In total, 171 stores have been sold to BTTF, including stores in Accrington, Clitheroe, Boot Way and Cog Lane in Burnley, and the Leeds Road store in Nelson. BTTF now owns the Kwik Save brand.
A spokesman for Kwik Save today revealed no redundancies would be made, and in the long term the stores may even be improved. The remaining 102 Kwik Save stores still owned by Somerfield will be converted to their brand. But the Craddock Road Kwik Save store in Colne has been sold to an unnamed retailer.
It will close on March 29 with the loss of 16 jobs.
