Grey matters -- that's the message of a new group representing the views of the over 50s in Chorley.

The group is being launched in a bid to ensure older people start influencing decision-making and planning so that the right kind of services are provided in the right way.

The Older People's Forum will meet for the first time in St George's Hall, Chorley, on Tuesday, March 14, between 1pm- 4pm.

Hosted by BBC news presenter Dave Guest, it will focus on two major issues:

o How to make Chorley a better place to live for older people.

o What can be done to ensure life after 50 has opportunity and fulfilment?

The event is being organised by various groups including Chorley Borough Council, Lancashire College, the county council, Primary Care Trust, Age Concern and the Council for Voluntary Service (CVS).

Organisers see the event an opportunity for older people to reveal what really matters to them.

Jeannie Stirling, chair of the planning group for the event, said: "As a person who is over 50 I want my views and opinions heard.

"Individually I can only do so much to influence decision-making and planning but collectively we can do so much more.

"Please join me and colleagues at the event on March 14. There will be a free raffle to all who can spare the time to come on the day."
